YouTube is celebrating its 15th birthday on February 15th. In these 15 years, the portal has become one of the most important media of our time and as such has meanwhile also become indispensable.
From almost every area of life and also guaranteed for every viewer there are free videos to see there, but it doesn't stop there. Because YouTube is not only suitable for tutorials, vlogs, music, gaming or comedy, but since it was founded in 2005 it has also developed into an important organ of democracy and individual participation, as has been shown again and again.

Therefore, for the portal's birthday, there is another small overview of facts about one of our favorite portals.e.
That was the first YouTube video
The first video was uploaded to YouTube on April 23, 2005 by Jawed Karim, one of the three founders of the platform, and it's called Me at the zoo. In it, the still quite young man explains in English that the cool thing about the elephants standing behind him is that they have long trunks. And that's about all that can be said about it.e.
The first billion record
Some records are also posted on YouTube. For example, the first video to hit the gigantic mark of one billion views was Korean singer Psy's song Gangnam Style. The satirical song is about the affluent district of Gangnam in the South Korean capital of Seoul. By July 10, 2017, it was the most viewed video on YouTube with around 2.9 billion views. It was only replaced by the music video for the song See you again by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth (today 4.4 billion views). The song didn't stay at the top for very long, however, as it was superseded in August by the music video for Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's song Despacito (6.6 billion views today).fe).

Rollei on YouTube
Also Rollei has been on YouTube since 2012. We don't have quite as many subscribers as PewDiePie and Bibi, but we are happy about every single one of our 1600 subscribers. We regularly upload useful videos there, in which our followers get to know our new products, for example, or how they can use our products correctly. For example, how to create the perfect panorama, or how our Rollei Go! smartphone gimbal is calibrated. In any case, it's worth checking out. By the way, our first video was a video about how to insert a center column into our Rock Solid Alpha tripod.
And with that, we say congratulations, YouTube!
